Elopement & Intimate Wedding Photography at Mount Fuji, Japan
Hello! I'm Sofia Hiramatsu, an elopement photographer based in Japan. Since 2014 I've photographed celebrations with a docu-editorial approach, in both film and digital, to create imagery that feels timeless, modern and deeply personal. There is nowhere quite like Mount Fuji to exchange vows: the mountain rising above still lakes, framed by cherry blossom in spring and fire-red maples in autumn. For couples eloping at Fuji, I offer a seamless, bilingual experience and photography that captures the emotion and quiet drama of your day with authenticity and refinement.
Based in Japan + Bilingual team
We live and work in Japan, fluent in English and Japanese, so the day belongs entirely to you while we handle the logistics and local detail in the background.
A team and a network, all in place.
From our in-house planner handling your timeline, permits and legal guidance to an English-speaking make-up artist and trusted lakeside vendors, every detail of your Fuji elopement feels effortless.
Photographs worth crossing the world for
Published in British Vogue and shaped by a decade of weddings across Japan, Asia and Europe, I blend film and digital with a fashion-forward edge, creating images that feel less like wedding photos and more like stills from your life.

Fuji is clearest from late autumn through winter and on crisp spring mornings. Cherry blossom (mid-April here, later than the cities) and autumn maples (November) frame the mountain most beautifully, and book out early.

Lake Kawaguchi's shoreline, the Chureito Pagoda, Oishi Park and the autumn Maple Corridor are our favourites. We choose together based on the season and the feeling you want.

Yes. Many couples have an intimate symbolic ceremony lakeside or at a ryokan, with the legal marriage completed at home. We guide you through the options and handle local coordination in Japanese.

The Kawaguchiko area is roughly two to two-and-a-half hours from central Tokyo by train or car. We help you plan timing so you arrive for the best light, and can build a relaxed overnight stay into your day.
