Summer Evening Surprise Proposal in Kyoto – Khari & Briana
As a Kyoto proposal photographer, I often get to witness some of the most heartfelt and life-changing moments in people’s lives. Khari and Briana’s evening in Kyoto was one of those occasions, a carefully planned surprise proposal that unfolded under the gentle glow of lanterns, in one of the most iconic districts in Japan.
They had travelled to Japan for a summer getaway, exploring Tokyo, Osaka, and finally, Kyoto. For Khari, the last stop was always meant to be more than sightseeing. He had been quietly carrying a ring, waiting for just the right time and place. After discussing ideas in secret, we planned the perfect location — the quiet streets of Gion, with the magnificent Yasaka Pagoda rising in the background.
Summer Surprise Proposal in Kyoto – Janelle & Graham at Daigoji & Gion
As a Kyoto proposal photographer, some of the most moving stories I have the privilege to capture are the quiet, intentional proposals that unfold in intimate corners of this historic city. Janelle and Graham’s surprise proposal session in late May was one such story—a private, elegant celebration of love set across two of Kyoto’s most iconic locations: Daigoji Temple and Gion.
Late spring was turning to summer, and Kyoto’s golden light filtered through warm breezes and leafy temple paths. The weather was ideal—warm, but manageable—and the timing of the session ensured that we experienced the soft transitions from afternoon clarity to golden hour glow. Janelle and Graham, visiting from abroad, chose to dress formally, a decision that elevated the sophistication and timelessness of their images.
Kyoto Couple Photoshoot – Emily & Jason at Fushimi Inari & Gion
As a Kyoto couple photographer, I’ve had the privilege of capturing countless love stories, each with its own rhythm and emotion. But some sessions stand out because they capture not just a moment, but a full day of transformation.
Emily and Jason’s visit to Kyoto was one of those special sessions. Travelling from Okinawa, they wanted to experience two very different sides of the city: the soft, ethereal stillness of an early morning at Fushimi Inari Taisha, and the warm, cinematic glow of an evening stroll through Gion and Pontocho Alley.
A Traditional Japanese Wedding Elopement in Kyoto – Anthony & Ariel’s Intimate Temple Ceremony
As a Japan wedding photographer Kyoto, capturing traditional elopements is one of the most rewarding experiences. Anthony and Ariel envisioned a deeply spiritual and culturally rich ceremony, choosing to honor their love through a traditional Japanese wedding in the sacred ambiance of an ornate Buddhist temple.
Their vision beautifully unfolded in a serene and private ceremony, where they exchanged heartfelt vows under the gentle guidance of a Buddhist monk. The simplicity of the moment, paired with the profound symbolism of each ritual, perfectly reflected their deep respect and appreciation for Japanese culture.
A Cinematic Pre-Wedding Shoot in Kyoto – Jennifer & Dallan
To Jennifer and Dallan, the city of Kyoto was a page that they had experienced, adored, and desired to turn once again to. And when they finally had a chance to make an event of this new chapter of their lives, they did it with a purpose.
The goal was not a series of awkward portraits or a stop at a list of tourist sites, but a two-stop pre-wedding shoot that was nothing short of a love letter to Japan, to each other, and to the life they have been creating together.
